Hei!

Is it usual to raise a toast in the churchyard after the wedding ceremony in Norway? I know that it's not allowed to drink in a public area, but if you replace it with alkohol free drinks would that be approriate? I found some old chats here that some churches do not permit it, but how is it nowadays?

Also, are there any companies who organizes such services as champagne tables? Coudn't find any.

Takk for svarene!

Hi! Every wedding I have been to, they drink some kind of sparkling alkoholic drink after the wedding (in front of the church). So I think on special days like this it may be okey? Can you maybe ask the people at your church and hear what they say? 😁

Any company serving alcohol outside a permanent licensed place needs to apply for a one time license. If you're going to do this it's better as a private initiative. A cooler,  plastic champagne glasses and someone (not hired) in charge of practicalities.

I think anonymous above is exaggerating. Every wedding seems a stretch. A few years back this never happened outside the church.

Thank you for the answer.

Yes, I will ask the church if I will decide to do this. First I wanted to know is it normal or they will think that I'm crazy :D

In my country it bacame like a tradition, I think 90% does that. For me it's more like a ritual, part of the celebration, not just because I want to drink :D Also, some guests are coming only to chuch, but not to the party so it's like saying thank you for them. Besides, you can order such service, when company takes care of glases, drinks, snacks maybe and cleans everything after.

Every country have their own traditions, habits and I respect that so for me this question was interesting :)
