Hello guys! I´m a French fellow student of a KG-member. I´ll post my question to you, and she can translate if you want to answer in Norwegian :) On behalf, thanks a lot for help!

I´m in my early twenties and I´ve seen a lot of different kinds of skin care routine recommendations and I´ve read a lot about different AHAs and BHA.. What should I use when - and in which formula?

My daily routine is: MD Formulations Facial Cleanser with glycolic acid Dermalogica Facial Toner Kiehls Eye Cream Vichy Aqua Termal Facial cream/moisturizer Sometimes in the evening or morning I use Decleor cleansing mousse for all skin types after a Korean cleansing oil brand when I use makeup.

About my skin: My skin is normal to dry. I rarely get oily T-zone, and that must be during summer time. My skin do not have visible pimples but in very good light, I can see many small , I don´t know what to call it - Microcomedones I suppose! And those are underneath my skin! And I want to remove them. Otherwise - I don´t have wrinkles... but if MD formulations is meant for 35 ++ I´m not sure if I should use them now...

Still I always come back to this MD cleanser.. So what should I use? I´ve learnt that BHA cleanses deep within the skin... I like the thought of using a mild cleanser but seriously I don´t know what kinds of products I should use to keep those microcomedones away and clean, moisturized skin...

MD formulations is for all ages, I wouldn't stop using that if I were you. The thing with BHA and AHA is that they work best when left on skin, instead of washing them off. After cleansing I use Clinique mild clarifying lotion as a toner, it contains salicylic acid, which is a BHA. I also use MD formulations facial lotion. When it comes to moisturizers, I prefer Clinique city block.

Bonne chance! :)

I wouldn`t say that MD Formulations is ment only for 35++, that is not correct.

MD Formulations is for all ages, but some of the products that are really

anti-age is ment for older age groups then yours.

The cleanser is ment for all age Groups. If you are afraid of using Products

ment for older People, the rule is that MD Formulations Vit a Plus is for those

who want anti-age benefits, but the mask

MD Formulations Vit a plus Firming treatment mask can also be used by all age groups.

BHA and AHA is very good in clearing up problem skin. So products that contain this

is always a plus if you have skin issuses.

The products that stay on Your skin like serums/creams etc that contain BHA and/or AHA

is the most beneficial in treating your skin.

If you like MD I see no reason why you should stop using this brand, but maybe you should

ad some products, like MD Formulations Continous renewal serum, this serum is great for

skin problems and clearing up skin with acne.

Another serum that is great for clearing up skin is Decleors Ylang Ylang serum,

this is like the MD Formulations CRS but is a little bit more gentle on the skin and can be

used in the summer months as well.

A Third serum that I really like during the summer months is Matis Purete serum,

this is also for clearing up skin.

One of my all time favourite night gel`s for combating acne or other problems is

Ole Henriksen Invigorating night gel, this contains BHA and really helped me during a

period when I had bad breakouts, and I always keep a jar of this in my bathroom and

bring out if my skin isn`t looking all that good. It`s a life saver

If you really wanna get serious about skincare you should really also have a

deep cleaing mask in your routine, and MD Formulations clearing complex mask

is a really effective deep cleaning mask. I dont use it my self any more, because

my skin don`t need MD Formulations products any more, but this is seriously the

very best mask for skin that needs deep cleaning.

Thank you so so much for your advice! And so kind of you to write back in English! :)) Merci :)) !

The problem is that I´m allergic to the BHA salicylic acid because I don´t tolerate aspirin. Are there any other alternatives for BHA acid beside salicylic acid??

"TS" :)

MD Formulations only have a certain anti-age range in their brand, the cleanser is ideal for all skin types - unless they react to the glycolic acid and get inflamed and irritated skin. Which does happen to some people, unfortunately, but if you really like it, then there's no reason for you to stop using it. I have had the cleanser in the sensitive formula as a staple ever since I started getting into skincare, which was when I was about 13 - 14. I'm 21 now, and nothing bad has happened to my skin. So... It's a keeper. I switch it up with EmergenC and Decleor now and then, but that cleanser is a lifesaver when it comes to my skincare routine, and I always come back to it. The only thing I need to keep in mind is to use at least spf 15 when the sun comes out. I guess that's why people claim for MD Formulations to be directed towards aging skin, because you have to be conscious of possible sun damage (=premature aging) and its renewing and exfoliating properties.

Microcomedones are tricky, I can never seem to get rid of them either. But what helped me was to use MD formulations continuous renewal serum, and use the oil cleansing method once a month or so. It takes up time to massage the skin and to push out impurities, but it does make my skin feel incredibly clean afterwards. Also using a moisturizing mask during the cold winter months and exfoliating about once or twice a week. Keeping the skin moist and nourished is one of the things that makes a difference.

There was also a thread a while back about acid peeling you could do yourself at home. HERE. It's basically by a bunch of members who ordered salicylic and glycolic acid from a website called skinlaboratories.com, and shared their experience with application and result. It sounds scary, but if you do your research before trying it out then it can actually clear up your skin a great deal after a couple of rounds of peeling. Or you can get a peeling at a salon, it's not as affordable, but they'll be able to tell how much your skin can take and what you need to get a clearer complexion. Comedones are known to be hard to deal with, and they often need something more effective than traditional skincare products to disappear.

If you're not on any contraceptives, then you can consider it. My skin cleared up very nicely when I was on the pill, but since you don't have anything major other than comedones, then I just think you need to switch up your skincare routine or look into something in your lifestyle that may affect the condition of your skin.

I have two questions I hope someone can ask regarding these brands:

Where do you buy MD Formulations? I thought they stopped selling it in Europe.

Also I tried to google "EmergenC", I didn't find any skin care. Can someone provide more information on this cleanser?

I recommend that you check out reddit/r/skincareaddiction. You can ask there, and also check out the sidebar for general info on skincare routines based on your skin type. They have helped me loads. They also have a helpful blog, you'll find it in the sidebar :)

Heey thanks again for your answers! I totally agree! And I have good news for now! Every come done is gone! I just had to switch my routine up a little,- and very very especially cut the sun protection La Roche Posay totally out because it totally crashes with MD Formulations according to Norwegian´s greatest blogger - Hilde Christina! ;) I am so happy now... And she is of course the greatest fan of Emergin-C ! :P So yeah I have read a lot about it this last couple of days... blivakker.no and vakkerhud.no are the only shops that ships this to Norway though! :/ but blivakker has run out of this item in many months and their price was only about 300 NOK ,- especially EmerginC Scientific Organics Phytocell Cream which Hilde was very pleased with.... and vakkerhud sells it for about 700 NOK... that´s crazy.

Do you know any other website that ships this to Norway at a very cheap price?

But in comparison to this moisturizer from Emergin-C, Hilde Christina also did a review on Nourish Radiance Brightening Moisturiser which is a super cheap and a very good cream that really keeps its promises! And this I ordered today! :)

About the MD cleanser, I am very relieved to hear that there´s no reason to cut MD out so I´m still keeping this tight into my lungs :D Yesterday I ordered another bottle of the cleanser , but this time for sensitive skin and in salon size :D super excited.

About the serum treatments at home , I am still very interested in having at least a serum but without salicylic acid... how am I going to make sure I am doing it the right way at home? (now I´m speaking of the treatment - not just serum underneath a moisturizer)

I also did a lot of research on serums not containing salicylic acid but it´s impossible. The only one I´ve found is Priori barriere balm.. ingen salicyl men lactic. But that is not odd because it is barrier... barrier doesn´t need salicyl because salicyl goes underneath the barrier... ;P

Xoxo TS
