The ownership of the dog.

Hello everyone.

I am desperate for help. I am in process of divorce. I have been married for 3 years with a Norwegian man. Since I move to Norway I started developing severe anxiety and depression, I worked hard for two months to buy my dog, the contract of course is on my name. I have been struggling a lot to work or even keep my studies because of this mental condition. My dog is everything to me, and my husband knew that. He even bought the cage for the airplane trip, but two days ago he changed his mind telling me I wouldn't bring my dog and that he would take the ownership since he paid for most of its stuff. The worse thing is that he is keeping him but wants to give it away for adoption. I am alone here and I really don't know where I can find help to go throw this process. I am going back to family and I am 100% sure that I can take care of pet plus I am not going to be alone in my home country as I am here . He is using my mental condition as a cause for taking the dog and the fact that he has paid for the stuff. What can I do in this situation? Can he really take my dog? If so is there anything I can do to keep my baby. I am really really desperate, and all this process has been really painful but I don't know who can help to manage this in the best way possible and as legal as possible. If the dog is registered in your name, then he can not take your dog. Is it in your name on NKK's pages and at dyreidentitet.no? Does he physically keep the dog away from you? Can you take the dog and keep it somewhere else until you travel?

The contract and everything else should be on my name, the lady that sold me the dog just changed the ownership information not long ago since it was on her name. The contract is fully on my name and so its the deposit. I am sadly still living with him, I am scared he might take him somewhere when I have to leave. I have no friends or family here, so it is really difficult for me to go somewhere else, I am all by myself, and I'm so lost.

The night before you are supposed to leave, you take all your belongings and the dog and go to a hotell. Some accept dogs, call them in advance about this. Dont tell him about this, Just leave without him knowing.

He might claim ownership to the dogs things, but not the dog. He can not legally take your dog.

Have you got a passport for the dog? To go abroad with it, you will need one. Some vaccinations as well. Rabies and deworming tablets. You must wait 21 days until  you can travel after the rabies-vaccine.

And is the dog ready for travel? Are you planning to travel first without the dog? I think you need to travel with the dog, it does not seem safe to leave the dog with your ex in case he gives it up for adoption.

If you need anywhere to keep it, contact all veterinarians in the area and kennels and explain the situation. They might know of a foster home that can help you temporarily.

Yes. I am planning on taking him to the vet as soon as possible, I'm just waiting for the monetary help from my mom. I already did my investigation and noted down everything he needs before he travels. I wanna make sure he is as safe as possible and that he actually can go inside the country.

nono, I have to travel with him, cannot take him after cause that wouldn't work. 

I'll be doing more research, all I want to do is to make sure He cannot take him from me, cause if he tries I'll be calling the police for sure.

It doesnt matter who paid or signed the contract, the owner of the dog is the person whos name is on the id chip.

I would make an appointment at the vet as soon as possible, if I were you. Is the dog chipped yet? It will need a chip to get the passport. The chip will make it more difficult for your ex to give the dog away for adoption without your consent.

I live in Bryne. I have lived around here for 3 years. 

He was very positive about everything and he suddenly changed from one day to another, he didn't want to talk and he was saying extreme hurtful stuff to me...at this point I feel so desperate living with him. He also told me he would take my computer which was a gift from him...when I asked so many times before that I could pay for it so I actually had it for myself...and he said nono its a gift...and now he is doing everything he promised me not to do. I am just so broken heart. But at this point all I want its my dog and go back to my family, I don't know what else to do, because I trusted him so much.
